It was a busy week, and we didn't get a chance to do/finish all of the apple crafts and projects that I had prepared (oh well, there's always next year!). One of the apple crafts that I did that was new for me this year was an idea passed on to me by Lindsay Anton, courtesy of Pinterest. Each child got a coffee filter (placed on top of a scrap piece of paper with their name on it). They got to colour designs all over the coffee filter paper using washable Crayola markers in "apple colours" (red, green, yellow, brown). When they were finished colouring their filter, I let them mist their filter with water from a spray bottle, and we set the papers aside to dry. When they were dry, I stapled them to an apple shape that had the middle cut out (I photocopied this template onto red construction paper, and then had them cut out...click here for the template to trace/photocopy). They are very colourful, and look great in the hallway. They would even look nice taped to a window for a stained glass effect.
